We aim to help people achieve major financial life milestones. From climbing the property ladder, getting savings to work harder for them, to retiring with confidence.
We’re harnessing the collective power of the Group to offer products and services that meet the needs of different people. We’re using our influence to help policymakers make better decisions and campaigning on the issues that matter to the customers of our different organisations.
Skipton Building Society has come a long way since it was founded in 1853, moving with the times and supporting members through life’s ups and downs. What has never changed is its mutual values of looking after members. The Skipton Group model was developed in the 1980s. The aim was to build on the Society’s mutual roots, by developing a diverse range of businesses that help people with a variety of financial needs. The Group has grown to where we are today.
One of our biggest assets is our people. We have talented colleagues across the Group’s organisations, and strive to make them great places to work – where they feel able to be the best version of themselves. We’re proud that a lot of colleagues have chosen to stay with the Group for many years.
What matters most of all is we continue to be here and provide products and services for the customers of each organisation. The businesses that make up the Group work together to remain strong for the future. So each organisation has a better chance of weathering economic, geopolitical, and environmental challenges. That way, we can continue to look after our customers – and their financial plans.

So far in 2025, 50% of new lending to first-time buyers (FTBs) (June 2024: 43%); helping over 12,000 FTBs.
The number of properties on which Connells Group exchanged contracts was 17% higher compared to June 2024.
Connells Group has 128,000+ letting properties under management – helping renters have a place to call theirs.
We’ve offered a financial advice service since 1988, with £4.9bn of customers’ funds under management.
We’re committed to donating 1% of our Group profit (before tax) to charities that align closely with our values and purpose.
